                           High Holy Days 2019/5780

A note from Rabbi Sammy:

During this holy time of year, we embark on a true journey. The Holidays invite us to explore the range of emotional and spiritual experiences. From the sweetness of Rosh Hashanah to the introspection of Yom Kippur, and then (only five days later!) from the joyous and playful celebration of Sukkot to the party atmosphere of Simchat Torah, we engage our minds, bodies, and souls in an immersive experience that sets ourselves on the path for spiritual growth. As a warm and inclusive community, we welcome you to forge your personal path, navigating the holidays to discover your authentic and holy self. At Ner Tamid, we are excited to travel this journey together with you!

Q3. Will there be babysitting? Yes, we are pleased to offer babysitting on Day 1 Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur, both starting at 10am for children under 6. Please know that children are always welcome in our main services, and our playroom will be open (available for use with parental supervision) during all services. We have a television in the playroom where you can watch/listen to services as your child plays. If you choose to sign up for babysitting, it is $18/child/day and you must sign up ahead of time through the office (, 858 513-8330).

Q4. How do I participate in the community Break the Fast? If you are joining us for Yom Kippur, we'd love to welcome you for our simple break the fast meal! The cost is $10/person (under 5 free), and the meal will immediately follow the conclusion of services on our patio. This is a lovely way to extend the holiday as we share a meal together. RSVP is required: please sign up online or contact the office (, 858 513-8330).

Q5. Do you do a High Holiday food drive? We're glad you asked! Yes we do and we're starting early this year! Our September Mitzvah of the Month is a food collection supporting Jewish Family Services Hand Up Pantry! Drop off donations to the office or sanctuary any time we're open!

Q6. When are we building the sukkah? If you'd like to help us build the sukkah (from Rachel's tent as a frame), please join us at 9:30am on Sunday, October 13th! Or, join us after minyan.

Q9. I still have questions. How do I get them answered??? Please contact us and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. Please remember our office is closed Saturday-Monday (open Tuesday-Friday).
